Life is Too Short

What are your goals? Life is too short to put things off until ‘someday’. It is time to stop procrastinating and get moving!

When I first meet people and they find out I’m from New Zealand, a majority of them tell me what a wonderful country it is, how beautiful it is; then I find out they have never been there but would love to go someday! Whenever I hear that last statement my comeback is “What’s stopping you?” Then the excuses start coming. Some are legit and some are just an excuse to have an excuse.

Over the years I have read many books on goal setting and working towards achieving those goals. The first step is ALWAYS to write them down. If you don’t write them down they won’t happen! Goals that are achieved in life are ones that are written down. Next you need to take one step towards achieving one of the goals you wrote down.

I have a client who was at a workshop to do with goal setting. Their homework assignment was to do one thing towards their goal. Her dream was to cruise the Mediterranean and have it include places like Ephesus, Santorini and Venice. That week she met me at a meet-up group and we got talking. I found out she was a real estate agent…perfect, we were looking to sell our house in a few months…and she found out I was a travel agent.  She told me about the workshop and what her homework was. Just over a year later she and her husband were on their way to Istanbul to begin a 10-day cruise to celebrate their 25th Wedding Anniversary and to visit the ports on their list.
Where do you want to travel to and how can we help get you started on your travel goals?

Life is too short to put things off until ‘someday’. In the past 18 months I have been to four funerals. Three passed from cancer and the fourth from cardiac arrest. One was a woman in her sixties the other three were men in their prime with the youngest being 41 and the oldest being 52. They all had dreams and goals for themselves and their families and were taken too soon.

What are your dreams and goals? Have you written them down? What is one step that you can do towards your goals? At the end of your life will you look back with regret or will look back and say you had a life well lived? As for me, I just want to slide in at the end and say “Wow, what a ride!”

Don’t put off your dreams and goals. Once you commit to those goals things will happen. Will it be easy? Not always. Some goals are very simple and some a little more complex. Break your goals down into manageable and achievable steps. Some will be achieved very easily and some will take years to achieve. Start now…go on…go and get pen and paper and start writing your goals down. Be as specific as possible. If you want to travel – where do you want to go, what do you want to see and do, what do you want to experience, what sort of transportation do you want to take to get there, what time of the year do you want to travel, what will the weather be like while you are there, are you going to travel by cruise ship, if so, what type of things would you like to do on the ship, what places would you like to visit on your cruise, etc. Be detailed when you write down your goals.

Time is a commodity that is not refundable or transferable. Once it slips by it is gone forever. How are you going to spend your time? Which goals are you going to work on first? Is your first goal travel? Then make your first step to call us and we can help get started on that travel goal. Time’s a wasting let’s get moving!!
