Have you ever wanted to just getaway with your someone special where it would be hard for anyone to contact you? How about escaping somewhere with no worries about anything except the person you are with?

Cruises allow you to getaway from hectic pace that we all set ourselves and provides a nice relaxing environment. When couples are relaxed they are more open to the romance that surrounds them. It provides a great chance for you to reconnect with your loved one and just have some "us" time.

Your romantic cruise could be for Valentine's Day, a birthday, an anniversary, an engagement at sea, a destination wedding, a honeymoon, a celebration, or just to getaway. There are many reasons to choose a romantic cruise. What's yours?

Romance at Sea

If you want to take a romantic cruise then there are a few essentials that you need. First you need to book a room with a balcony. Nothing says romance more than a balcony room. You could choose a Balcony Stateroom or a Suite with a balcony. Want to take the romance a little further then how about a suite that comes with a butler? Then you have someone at your beck and call to help you arrange romantic breakfasts in bed, or a romantic dinner on your balcony, help with dinner reservations, etc.

Another essential is to book a dinner for two in one or more of the specialty dining restaurants onboard the ship. You already get fine dining in the main dining rooms, but the specialty restaurants takes it to another level and provides a more intimate environment that you don't get int he main dining rooms.

Then there is the SPA! How about a couples spa treatment? Many of the spas onboard the ships have couples packages that may include couple massages, facials, bubble bath, champagne, etc. Some cruise lines allow you to book your spa treatments before you get on the ship. So why not start the vacation off right with a couple's massage on the day you board the ship.

How about a romantic walk under the stars on one of the upper decks? Or finding a quiet place to sit and watch a magnificent sunset together? It could be finding a quiet place on the ship to sit and read, or soak up some sun. Most ships have a kid-free zone where you can go to relax. How about a romantic ride on a hand-carved carousel? Yep you read that right...a hand carved carousel and it is on a ship! How about something a little more adventurous like ice skating, rock wall climbing, zip lining, surfing...yes you can do all of these on some ships.

If you are not into the big ships for a romantic cruise then there are the smaller ships and yachts that provide a very intimate romantic experience. They have the more exotic itineraries as they can get into a lot of ports the bigger cruise ships cannot. So you will have some great time ashore without the crowds.

How to Book your Romantic Cruise

Perfect example of no privacy balconiesFirst and most importantly talk to a Cruise Specialist! Why you ask? Very simple there are so many options out there that it can be overwhelming when trying to find the right cruise for your special occasion. Did you know that not all balcony rooms are private? You might have a wonderful balcony looking out over the ocean and when you get onboard the ship you find that everyone else above you can see into your balcony. The photo on the right gives a great example of balcony rooms you want to avoid if you are looking for privacy. Your Cruise Specialist can help you avoid these balconies and find the one that is right for you.

Another important task when booking your cruise is how many days do you want to go and where. There are so many places to choose from but it all comes down to what best fits you and your loved one and what you enjoy doing. A good Cruise Specialist will be able to find the right cruise that fits your needs, wants, and budget. This is why using a Cruise Specialist is so important. If you want your romantic getaway to be just that, then you need the help of someone who knows the cruise lines and itineraries to help you narrow down the hundreds of options to the one that is right for you. Yes they will ask you a ton of questions, but the more they ask and the more you answer, the better they can help you find the right cruise.
